Interview with Thomas Aichelmann, Managing Partner


What values/philosophy define the activities of your company?

Thomas Aichelmann: “Our company is an owner–managed, full-service, multi-channel advertising agency.” That’s a lot of marketing buzz words in one sentence – don’t you think? To make it more tangible: We help our clients to establish long-lasting and profitable relationships with their customers by developing creative marketing communication. In order to develop creative and relevant communication, the team within CONTEAM GRUPPE is what counts. We employ more than 120 experts in all fields of communication and work in an open and collaborative environment that enables us to deliver outstanding ideas and execution competence through all media channels. Success for us is not, in the first instance, economic success but the ability to name clients who are satisfied with the work we deliver as a team. Growth is not an end in itself but is necessary to drive innovation and develop content and tools for tomorrow. Together with partners who lead the market in their fields of business, we develop communication concepts that are relevant and that break new ground, leading marketing more towards pull and away from the old push mentality. Lester Wunderman, one of the heroes of advertising, once said: “The secret of the future is to listen to the customer, not to talk to him.” He was absolutely right.

What distinguishes your services from those of the competition? What are the unique selling points/special features or characteristics?

Thomas Aichelmann: Advertising claims to be a creative industry. For us creativity is not a purpose in and of itself but an instrument to reach a goal. David Ogilvy, another great advertiser, once said "If it doesn't sell, it isn't creative." To deliver this promise, a deep understanding of the client’s business is needed. Here, CONTEAM GRUPPE makes the difference. Our clients profit from almost 30 years of experience in countless industries and our profound knowledge of processes in marketing, sales and after-sales. In-depth customer insights and analytics-based strategies lead us to solutions that differentiate us from run-of-the-mill agencies.
We have all the relevant resources and competences in-house and run our business based on state-of-the-art web-based tools and processes. All our managing partners operate together with their teams in close customer contact as sparring partner and problem solver.

Where do you see your company in the next three years? What wishes or visions do you connect with this? What goals do you have?

Thomas Aichelmann: In three years’ time? Still growing - based on the success of our clients, developing communication that makes the difference, together with a team that is fun to work with. For us Big Data in the first instance is the foundation for knowledge-based strategies and creative ideas. Listen first and talk afterwards – that is what my mom always said and she was right. More than ever in history we as a communication agency have the chance to listen to what our clients’ customers want. It is up to us to get the right message to the right person at the right time. Creativity that sells, led by a strategy based on knowledge - this is the future of CONTEAM GRUPPE.
